Latin America has always been a destination where I have had trouble deciding which country to visit first. There are so many highlights and as it is such a big continent I just need to keep chipping away at it. My first visit to this region was to Mexico where I simply fell in love with the food and the colonial towns. The Haciendas that have been restored and now available as accommodation made me feel like I had travelled back in time but with all the modern luxuries such as en-suites and hot water. The ruins are so well preserved here that you don’t need to stretch your imagination too far to envisage the way of life back in Mayan times.
When I returned to this part of the world I visited Chile, and then went onto Peru. Four weeks was barely enough to scratch the surface of these amazing countries but my trip was jam packed with incredible experiences and landscapes that were so out of this world I couldn’t be sure if I had dreamed them up.

My most recent visit to South America was a wildlife extravaganza to the Galapagos and the Ecuadorian Amazon. Seeing a Giant Otter cruising down the river in the amazon, screeching to its family was fascinating and the bird life on the island of Genovesa in the Galapagos was incredible.

Next on my list is to visit Patagonia and hike through the epic landscapes.
