My 10 day introduction trip to South America was action packed and equally enjoyable making it such a wonderful experience. We travelled from Melbourne all the way to Atacama in one day and although it was a very long day, it was all worth it once we got to Atacama, knowing that we wouldn’t need to move again for a few days. I can highly recommend visiting the beautiful Alto Atacama. I was in heaven relaxing on the terrace, soaking up the sun, enjoying a drink before what I knew was going to be a wonderful lunch, having just done a surprising fantastic walk through a canyon and knowing I was going to have another unforgettable tour to see the flamingo’s that afternoon. We felt relaxed, indulged and spoilt from the moment of our arrival. In Santiago, we did an unbelievable bike tour where there were almost as many staff as travellers so we felt totally safe and protected from the traffic. It was a great tour to get closer to the action and explore the heart of Santiago. Iguazu Falls was amazing, it is such a considerable size and has such a different view and feel on the two sides. We had a falls view room at the Sheraton and I remember my husband being disappointed by the falls saying they were no way near as good as Niagara Falls, I informed him they were not the proper falls, just baby falls, and when we saw the proper falls he agreed it was much better than Niagara. The highlight for me was the helicopter ride over the falls. Buenos Aires is a huge city but very walkable. Over the 2 days we walked the different areas, saw a lot and got a great feel for the city. We were fortunate to be there on a Sunday and visited the market in San Telmo. On our last night we went to a tango show. It was a wonderful dinner and show that showcased the beautiful dancing. Sitting in a VIP area is fantastic as it a more intimate environment and generally allows you to look down on the stage. I would love to do another trip but now that I have 3 little girls I don’t see us travelling there anytime soon. My experience was invaluable and between this short trip and the knowledge I have gained from the other staff and on the job I feel I have a very extensive knowledge of South America and love working with this unique destination.
